The project consists of redefining the square with the aim of achieving maximum integration with the environment. The living spaces have been organized, accessibility has been guaranteed, public lighting, street furniture and the conditions of the existing trees have been improved.The action is based on the definition of a horizontal plane, respecting the levels of the perimeter streets that delimit the space and preserving all of the existing trees. The square is located at an intermediate level between the highest and lowest point of the area. In this way, access is resolved by means of two stairs, one at the upper level and one at the lower level and two ramps on the sides.This configuration encourages a diagonal route that fluidly connects the ends of the space.
The aim is to transform the square into a cheerful and welcoming space, with a light touch of color, conceived as a true “urban living room”. The pavement has been executed with pieces of three colors that, combined, create a dynamic visual effect that accompanies the pedestrian. This choice of materials seeks to make the stay more pleasant, evoking the sensation of a comfortable interior space.
